During my master’s, as part of the course Advanced Designs: Printed Textiles, I created a pattern that drew inspiration from the innate ability of lines to convey profound meaning and the elegance of minimalism. The design features intricate lines that harmonize to create a visually compelling array. To test the design’s application on an actual product, I boldly chose a thrifted leather jacket and engraved the pattern on the back and collar using a laser engraving machine. To ensure a consistent and high-quality result, I used masking tape to safeguard parts of the jacket from the laser, and I adjusted the laser’s focus setting while engraving on the non-uniform surface of the jacket.
